Summary: Research studies in Canada and other countries show that 2SLGBTQ people report higher rates of mood and anxiety disorders, poorer self-perceived mental health status, and higher rates of lifetime suicidality relative to their heterosexual and cisgender counterparts. Furthermore, there is evidence to show that substance use may be higher in 2SLGBTQ communities due to homo/bi/transphobia and that patterns of use are different. This session will explore how social stigma and discrimination can affect 2SLGBTQ people’s mental and emotional health, become internalized and how unhealthy coping strategies can develop. We will learn of inclusive counselling tips, intersectional framework that incorporates lived experiences, coming out processes, and psychological supports that can protect the individual, affirm a sense of self and promote resilience.Objectives:
- Recognize the impact of bi/homo/transphobia on the mental health outcomes of 2SLGBTQ communities.
- Unpack common counselling issues through the lens of intersectionality, minority stress, trauma-informed care, and other useful frameworks.
- Identify common counselling issues for 2SLGBTQ clients, i.e., coming out & support, SOGIEGE & survival, IPV & relationships, etc..
- Provide 2SLGBTQ-positive mental health care in the context of interpersonal and systemic discrimination that affects emotional and mental health.

Summary:
This course builds the capacity of service providers and organizations in providing trauma-informed care to 2SLGBTQ people and communities.
We train providers to meet the needs of 2SLGBTQ people and prevent re-traumatization using the principles of trauma-informed care, alongside 2SLGBTQ cultural competencies.
We ask providers to self-reflect on their skills and capacities to support clients healing and repair processes.
We do this by acknowledging structural barriers, provider power dynamics, on-going discrimination, and the connections with trauma.

Summary:
This session is a question-and-answer formatted session where learners can ask questions arising from the 2SLGBTQ Foundations course. There will be a short summary of the module's objectives to remind learners what is covered in the course and to prompt application and extension questions.
We welcome all questions, however, this session will not cover content that is taught in RHO's other courses, instead, learners will be referred to those courses so that they can be certified for their time spent learning the material.Objectives:
1. Provide learners with a facilitator-led space to review 2SLGBTQ Foundations course materials.
2. Support learners to apply the 2SLGBTQ Foundations course within their own work environment with their patients, clients, or service users.
3. Extend learners's understanding of the 2SLGBTQ Foundations core concepts to prepare learners for other RHO courses.

- Explain autism from a neurodiverse perspective.
- Recognize
how cisnormativity and neuro-normativity influences health care and health
care access.
- Identify
social determinants of health in relation to the intersection of autism
and trans and non-binary identities.

how neuro-normativity creates and sustains barriers for autistic people

Summary:
To provide inclusive, affirming health care and social services it is crucial to have policies and practices that reflect the diverse clients’ needs. To create change in an organization, it must be evident from board, senior management to front-line staff and volunteers. This session is a review of programs, services, website, images/posters, signage, brochures, publications, intake forms/registration forms, policy, etc. of the organization. The session uses an anti-oppression/anti-racism framework to examine the process of developing organizational sensitivity and responsiveness to diverse 2SLGBTQ communities. The session addresses creating a positive and welcoming work environment for both 2SLGBTQ staff, clients and volunteers. The workshop will explore various strategies such as specific programs and services, HR policies, Intake forms, inclusive language, signage, brochures, and online images. We will view various samples of inclusive practices and forms to make your organizational space more 2SLGBTQ friendly. The process to create an inclusive space takes time with building blocks to achieve the goal in equity and inclusivity.
